While in Annecy I got told that I was hired to work on a pilot for a TV series at french production company “2 minutes” in Angouleme, starting the 1st of July.
“2 minutes” is well known for their 2d work but for the past few years they have started working in 3d as well and went on producing the new Pierre Coffin “Pat and Stan” series for Mac Guff.
I am not too sure how long the project will run for but it is already a great experience and a great opportunity to visit Angouleme which is the capital of “Bande dessinées” (“european Comics”).

I just came across that great lighting showreel this morning by Eduardo Martin Julve.
He worked on Ilion’s “Planet 51” from which you can see some really really cool shots. I hope Planet 51 has been animated like this throughout.

I have finally been able to work on the design of my website.
People will probably scream when looking at the code but why would I spend 10 hours pulling my hair troubleshooting some nasty CSS when I can just do the same job in an hour using HTML?! […] Read more

As suggested by Bobby Chiu, I just did a quick painting exercise in the style of one of my favorite artist Nate Wragg. Well it is pretty much a copy of one of his paintings. The grey background was just to avoid working on white but in retrospect white could have been better 😉 Ah I will have to learn colour harmony one day… how/where to start?

Listening to the Ken Duncan’s interview on the Animation Podcast I remembered those great comic strips from Begian author Franquin. I still can’t believe Gaston Lagaffe is more than 50 years old! No wonder Gaston’s car was a 1925 Fiat 509. […] Read more
