Faking it

“Fake it until you make it” they say. If you are interested in personal development and want to see some individuals pushing through their comfort zone to become the exact opposite of what they have been until now to eventually participate to a competition where they will have to pretend to be someone else.

From Kickboxer to Ballroom Dancer, Ballet Dancer to Wrestler, Webdesigner to Surfer, the series aired few years ago and is now available online for the UK residents. A lot of fun!

One of the funniest would probably be the one where a country boy fan of Haendel and 17th century french painter Poussin is challenged to become a Graffiti artist in few weeks. Getting ready for his new life he tells his mum: “I will have to pack some working clothes” to which is mum replies “you don’t have working clothes” 😉

No matter your background, with the right mentors and a serious boot camp, you can achieve pretty much anything.

Following the release of his new book “Realistic Architectural visualization with 3ds max and mental ray”, my friend Jamie Cardoso was asked to write an article about Mental Ray for the january edition of “3d world” (issue 126).

I didn’t get a chance to read it yet but knowing Jamie, this is probably a very thorough article demonstrating the abilities of Mental Ray when used in Visualization.

Gaston, my all time favourite comic by Franquin is finally airing on french TV. I wasn’t too excited when I heard they would be using After Effect rigs to give life to the useless intern but Normaal did a really nice job I must admit.

I would also like to mention an other one of my favourite comics, Leonard. That one has been given the 3d treatment by Ellipsanime and is looking very cool!

I am about to buy a new game console and didn’t know what to choose between the Xbox 360 and the PS3 since my Bluray movie library is increasing dramatically but this is something exciting coming on the Xbox 360!

This looks like a clever move from Microsoft. This looks like the Itune version of Arcade games and this is a great opportunity for the old Arcade developers to bring their old IPs out of the dust and fight against or conquer the illegal emulator scene. Pac Man at the click of a button on your Xbox 360 or what about “Ghost and Goblins” with portable achievements!!!!

I have the feeling “The King of Kong” will have a sequel in no time 😉

Well, well, well…. It looks like I might be able to make it to the Angouleme International Comics Festival this year. It is running from the 28th to the 31st of January in the gorgeous town of Angouleme.

Just for a reminder, as well as some NLP and Reframing tips, here is what Bobby Chiu had to say about the festival after visiting it last year:

Bill Presing also posted some pictures on his blog last year:

Is anyone else interested in going? I have no clue what kind of accommodation I will organize but I am sure it will be fine.

I have spoken about those guys some time ago and browsing the net I realised they have a blog. I am not entirely sure who those guys are but they seem to be linked to the great british production company Nexus. Nexus is also a studio I have been admiring since the days of Satoshi Tomioka and his surreal short films like Justice Runners.

After the great Royal Bank of Canada advert, FX and Mat have created a very nice shortfilm for the next olympic games of 2010 and sharing with us some behind the scenes. Nice! {james I saw you ;-)}

Yep it is possible to animate in Max and rendering has never been an issue:

During an animation lunch, one of my co-workers told me about a crazy Australian video game developer who spent 8 years making a 7 minutes shortfilm from animatic to rigging, animation, rendering, compositing, music scoring and music FX!!!
