Despicable Me 2 Behind the scene

Despite the whole industry having embraced the Bluray format for several years, they still don’t seem to be able to fit any “Behind the scene” videos or director’s comments on the enormous space that offer bluray discs. This is why we’d better celebrate the release of videos like that one, especially since it is a studio that is well known for being very secretive.

Steve Carell shows you how 3d is done at Mac Guff. It is great to see that Zébé is actually a real person. I thought he was just a myth, a machine that could crank up great drawings after great drawings 😉 Interesting he doesn’t work on a Cintiq. Make me feel better for not coughing up for one myself.

    Hi Olivier

    The movie seems promising !
Around 1:14 we can see this cool plugin for Maya “studio library” which I highly recommend 😉
    My favorite one in Maya…

    • hey Arnaud! thanks for passing by.

I wanted to mention the pose librairy they are using actually. I don’t know which plugin you are refering to but the one at MacGuff is probably Lionel Gallat’s PoseLib script. If you look very carefully you will read something like mgPoseLib which could stand for Mac Guff Pose Lib. Lionel Gallat was an animation director and highly skilled TD at Mac Guff before he embarked on his IndieGogo adventure. I think he said somewhere he honed the script at MacGuff.

I don’t have much experience with it but I would definitely try it if the opportunity presented itself.

Yeah you are right, seems closer to poseLib than the one I was thinking of : http://www.studiolibrary.com/

    • well thanks for the link though. Most of the pose library scripts I have used in the past were wonky, even or especially the ones developed at work so it is good to be told about new ones. Cheers!

  4. the whole rig seems to be broken Enrico! 😉 I guess they are using some deformers for the pose to look nicer in the camera view
